Illegal Immigrants

I think the operative word here is "Illegal". If that's where we start then I just don't see where anything else matters. I don't care how hard they work, or how poor they were, or anything else. The fact is that their very first action in this country is to break the law. How is that good? How is that fair to anyone else in this country not least of who are the Legal immigrants.

I've heard people say that illegal immigrants do the work in this country that no one else is willing to do. Pardon my foreign language, but that's bull$#!+! If illegal immigrants weren't here then the minimum paid wage would be higher, and hard working Americans and Legal immigrants would work at those higher paying jobs. Yes, of course that means our prices would be higher, but I'd much rather pay an extra buck for my head of lettuce and know that I'm employing a Legal worker in this county.

I also think amnesty is absolutely the wrong message. It means we're not serious about our laws. I don't think the problem is necessarily intractable. If we were serious about preventing illegal immigration then we could cut the number of entering illegals to a miniscule fraction of the current number. The Soviet Union managed to keep nearly all of it's people in, I think we can keep nearly all of the illegals out.

I hadn't been paying attention before. Now (CNN) we're going to be held hostage to a group of criminals. This is perhaps the best reason to be against a weak illegal immigrant plan. Here is a massive group of people who see their own group as being of more importance than that of their host (victim) nation. If they were immigrants then they would see the USA as their highest, greatest affiliation (just as I see an American before I see a Republican or Democrat). This should not stand. I can only hope that we (citizens and legal immigrants) will use this "strike" as a way to identify all the illegal immigrants, and then deport them all!

A poster in a CNN picture reads "We are not criminals".

What part of "Illegal" in "Illegal immigrants" don't they understand. The moment they bypassed the customs station they became criminals. I have no problem with accepting immigrants through the normal channels. But the very fact that a person is willing to break the immigration law means they will more likely break other laws (like transporting drugs and weapons across the border). No, I'm sorry, they ARE criminals. And one of their first things they're doing is stealing is our jobs!
