Should we give money to opposition parties?

This has me wondering. I'm not sure if I see this as a good thing or not. Certainly there are some parties that should not get power. The Middle East probably would have been better off if a party calling for and working towards the destruction of Israel had not won in parliamentary elections in Palestine (though I still urge patience and hope for a miracle [see "The New Face of Palestine"]). But if we give money to opposition parties we certainly close doors if the opposition loses.
